We have customers in more than 150 countries, comprising more than 400 airlines and leasing customers, 160 armed forces, 70 navies, and more than 5,000 power and nuclear customers. In 2019, we invested £1.46 billion on research and development. We also support a global network of 29 University Technology Centres, which position Rolls-Royce engineers at the forefront of scientific research.

 

Through CHIMERA, Rolls-Royce will collaborate with the other partners to advance its toolkit of robotic snakes and miniaturised repair tools. These will have the capability of repairing components deep within the core of the Rolls-Royce engines, such as within the combustion chamber, enabling products to be safely returned into service. The devices coming from CHIMERA will go alongside those from other Rolls-Royce projects such as COBRA and FLARE, ensuring Rolls-Royce remains a world-leader in the development of advanced in-field maintenance techniques
